Whether its on-campus or online, full-time or part-time, first-time entry or continuing education, students will find a variety of offerings at Champlain College. The College has a history of implementing innovative programs based on the needs of changing society, and students will find dedicated faculty and staff who are interested in nurturing their education and who are able to provide career planning support. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, study abroad programs across the globe, 30 fields of study, and 2 master’s programs, it’s no mystery why it was ranked in the top tier of the Best Comprehensive Colleges in the North by U.S. News America’s Best Colleges 2007.
History
Champlain College was established in 1878 as Burlington Collegiate Institute in Burlington, Vermont. Six short years later it was renamed Burlington Business College until 1958 when it became Champlain College. Through its 125+ year history, the College has established an online distance learning program, a Single Parents Program, study abroad programs, and satellite programs in several countries. Champlain offers its nearly 2,000 students an education built on years of experience.
Academics
Champlain offers five academic divisions to guide students to a rewarding career. The Core Curriculum was developed to create well-rounded students by stressing critical thinking and reflection, which encourages students to ask questions. Based on the professional programs offered at Champlain College, the other four divisions are the Business Division, Information Technology & Sciences Division, Communication & Creative Media Division, and the Education & Human Studies Division.
Undergraduate programs offered include Accounting, Applied Psychology, Broadcasting, Business & Management, Computer & Digital Forensics, Computer Information Technology, Computer Networking and Information Security, Criminal Justice, e-Business Management, Digital Filmmaking, Education, Electronic Game & Interactive Development, Elementary Education, Event Management, Game Programming, Graphic Design & Digital Media, High School Teacher Education, Hospitality Industry Management, Hotel/Restaurant Management, International Business, Marketing, Mass Communication, Media Communications, Middle School Teacher Education, Paralegal Studies, Professional Writing, Public Relations, Radiography, Social Work, Software Engineering, and Web Development & Design.
Champlain also offers a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Managing Innovation & IT. Working adults or those interested in career advancement may consider one of Champlain’s Professional Certificates. There several topics offered within four areas: Accounting, Business, Multimedia & Graphic Design, and Technology.
Online Learning
As a division of Continuing Professional Studies, online learning at Champlain College provides a flexible option for those students interested in education but find themselves hindered by logistics, time constraints, or other factors. The Champlain difference is that these online programs are developed to be relevant to professional life. Online students enjoy the convenience of accessing materials, studying, or taking exams with no stipulations regarding when one must be online. Students can truly create the flexible schedule they need.

Financial Aid
Champlain College believes that cost should not hinder higher education. In addition to information regarding installment plans, employer billing, and company reimbursement, the financial aid office can assist students through several financial aid programs, including scholarships, grants, and loans.
